Ect. This was a precious little book, and the first of it’s kind, EVER for Leather/S/M Dykes.

Also like I mentioned, it’s “Bitch Goddess: The Spiritual Path of the Dominant Woman” edited by Pat Califia and Drew Campbell 1997 a good counterbalance for both dykes and other leatherwomen, similar in spirit though different in focus to Geoff Mains “Urban Aboriginals”, also very highly recommended.

“LeatherFolk: Radical Sex, People, Politics and Practice” Mark Thompson, editor Some of the real leather movers and shakers, especially Gay and Lesbian are in there….as well as others…

“Leather Women” Edited by Laura Antoniou copyright 1993 To get leather women visible on the shelves.

“Partners in Power: Living in Kinky Relationships” Jack Rinella “The Master’s Manual: A Handbook of Erotic Dominance” Jack Rinella

“High Risk: An anthology of Forbidden Writings” Edited by Amy Scholder & Ira Silverberg copyright 1991 with John Preston, Pat Califia, Dorothy Allison contributing articles

KinkyCrafts: 99 Do-It-Yourself S/M Toys for the Kinky Handyperson” Edited by Lady Green with Jaymes Easton

And no Leather bookshelf would be complete without: “Tom of Finland: His Live and Times” by F. Valentine Hoven the 3rd 1993 and “Tom of Finland: The Art of Pleasure” Taschen Copyright 2002 This one above is a lovely picture book with some history and writing of Tom of Finland’s extensive work and his various periods. He is the premier erotic gay and leather kink gay artist.

 Fiction

“The Marketplace” series by Laura Antoniou.

Jack Fritscher’s “Leather Blues” is an excellent short novel set in the period you’re interested in.

More controversial are William Carney’s “The Real Thing” and “The Rose Exterminator.” Just don’t take them as gospel; they’re fiction.

“The Story of Harold” by Terry Andrews (a pseudonym) has some wonderful glimpses of ’60s and ’70s leather life both gay and straight/bi.

From a later era is my own “Carried Away: An S/M Romance,” which is set in NYC in 1992.

Geoff Mains wonderful fictional book on loving leather brotherhood, and a well told story: “Gentle Warriors” highly recommend it, very good read…really shows you what loving brotherhood is all about….

This book list was passed on to me, and I’ve read most on the list, fiction is fun but there’s a reason the non-fiction is first.
